What is the procedure for administering DIFC Wills?

If the deceased has registered a Will with the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC) Wills Service Centre, the DIFC courts will:

  • Issue the grant of probate
  • Confirm the appointment of the executor as stated in the Will
  • Order the distribution of the Dubai assets
  • Confirm guardianship rights over any children

The executor is responsible for presenting a list of assets the courts.  Our lawyers will assist with collating the information required and sending in the correct documentation.

If the deceased had assets in the UAE, a succession certificate needs to be obtained.  We can advise you through this process.

Incorrectly administering an estate can lead to family disputes and even court action being brought against you (as an executor) for not discharging your duties correctly.  Let our experienced lawyers advise you throughout the process.  You can be confident that your responsibilities will be discharged with scrupulous precision; thereby honouring the final wishes of the deceased.
